to have understood before the revelation
that my heart had to break upwards a little
to take in the information
that you lit up when I walked in the room unexpectedly
that you got excited about the plans we just made
that you are thankful for this human
And
Knowing that I’ve got me
makes it easier to say
you are so important to me
that sometimes feeling your chest rise and fall with air
makes my soul want to weep with gratitude
that such a person is alive right now
expressing through this fleshy vessel
so much more than breath
utterly unique aliveness and love
a God I can touch.
And knowing that you’ve got you
is fresh air
that is also solid
enough to lean in to
when aliveness aches to be
born through me.
